Working in collaboration with Martin challenged Joanne to think about the connection between different materials, techniques and ultimately how individual interpretations can sit in harmony.

The detail of Martin’s knitted stitch work and colour palette reminds Joanne of seascapes and million-year-old rocks eroding by the saltwater.

The influence of Egon Schiele showing itself in Joanne’s work with its elongated forms and angled shapes, articulating in metal a reflection of the awkwardness inherent in some of Schiele’s pieces.
